Should you switch side hustles when you fail?

How’s it going, lovely people?

I just wanted to check in on you guys since it’s been awhile since our last post.

What I wanted to talk to you guys about today is your awesome side hustle.

These days, in my opinion, a lot of people just up and quit once things get hard; I am also a victim of this, and I am guilty for doing this.

Once things get hard, I quit. There’s no sugarcoating this.

Once I see, smell, or hear failure, I run away and start a new side hustle.

I am talking to y’all and I am also talking to myself in this post.

Please don’t do this to yourself by quitting just because things get hard or when you fail.

I fall for this type of crap where, when I fail, I start a new side hustle. This is the biggest mistake you can make as a solopreneur/entrepreneur.

Once you quit, you will most likely turn it into a habit, and this habitual action will be yours to bear as long as you live.

So how should we do things?

Simple, keep going.

There are times in your life when things will not go your way. Life will just throw curve balls, fast balls, and changeups in your direction. You need to have the ability to adjust and recalibrate. This is your ultimate weapon.

Life will smother your face on flat concrete, and you will have no one there to help you. It’s up to you to push yourself up and keep walking, because there’s nothing you can do.

You can either cry on the floor, or start moving in the direction you intended to move to in the first place.

Like the Japanese proverb I adore dearly, “Fall 7 times, stand up 8.“

Business is the same ordeal where it will crush you, whether it be self-inflicted mistakes or the hardships that come with owning a business.

Once you start failing in your business, look at it as a learning opportunity, not a failure. You need to start seeking failure rather than avoiding it. Avoiding failure is moot because it is inevitable in the world of being a solopreneur or an entrepreneur.

So, once you start failing in your business or side hustle, learn from it, and keep going. The lessons from failure in business are much more valuable than taking a Harvard business course.

Once you fail, you will learn what works and what doesn’t. You cannot have the same lessons once you decide to give up or switch to another side hustle. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule, but very few.

For example, if you were babysitting as a side hustle, you failed, and you decided to open up a trucking business that caters to moving existing businesses from one location to another: What lessons can you transfer to the trucking business? You are starting from ZERO if you do this.

On the other hand, if you failed at your babysitting side hustle, you can learn from this and RECALIBRATE. See what works and what doesn't, apply it to your existing babysitting business, and move forward.

Stop with this nonsense of switching because you failed. Failing doesn’t equate to NOT being profitable. It just means you failed. It is as simple as that, and that is okay.
